The dashboard will be made of soft touch materials and will get an eight-inch touch screen display with navigation system. The seats will be very comfortable and covered with high quality leather or cloth depending on a trim. New Highlander with be offered with various features. Some of them are: a rearview camera, a panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth, USB, Blu-Ray DVD entertainment system etc. As for the safety, it will be provided with eight airbags, blind-spot monitoring, Lane Departure alert and so on.

Under the hood of 2016 Toyota Highlander will be placed three types of engines. The base engine is a 2.7-liter four cylinder with the output of 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and offered with FWD. The second option is a 3.5-liter V6 engine. It will produce 270 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. It will be paired with the same 6-speed automatic and offered with FWD and AWD. The hybrid version will be a combination of 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor. All together, it will be able to make 280 horsepower.  Estimated fuel economy for the hybrid is 27 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

Release date and price

2016 Toyota Highlander should hit the market sometime in the end of 2015 or in early 2016. Its base price is expected to be around $30,000.
